What is a Comprehensive Eye Exam?
A comprehensive eye exam is a thorough evaluation of your eye health and visual system. It involves a series of tests and assessments designed to detect various eye conditions and provide a complete picture of your eye health. During a comprehensive eye exam, we assess:
Visual Acuity. We’ll check how well you can see at different distances, ensuring that your vision is clear and sharp.
Refraction. Our optometrists will determine if you have any refractive errors, such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism. If needed, we’ll prescribe corrective lenses.
Eye Health. We’ll examine the structures of your eye, including the retina, optic nerve, and blood vessels, to detect conditions like glaucoma, cataracts, or macular degeneration.
Eye Function. Assessments of eye muscle coordination and focusing abilities help us identify issues like strabismus or amblyopia (lazy eye).
Peripheral Vision. We’ll evaluate your peripheral vision to detect any blind spots or irregularities.
Color Vision. A color vision test can uncover color vision deficiencies, which can affect daily tasks and job performance.
